Today we are discovering the surroundings of St-Remy-de-Provence. A 15 minute drive will lead us to Les-Baux-de-Provence, a gorgeous stone hilltop village officially classified as "one of the most beautiful villages of France". We will do a walking tour and then take a break for lunch at a quaint little restaurant in town. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore the medieval streets, look over the artisan shops, or slow down at a cafe and watch the people come and go.

We will then go to the famous Carrières de Lumières: a unique multimedia art exhibition space located in a former quarry where you will immerse yourself in stunning projections of famous paintings and artworks. To finish our first day in Provence we'll embark on a journey to discover one of the region's finest products: olive oil. We will visit a local olive oil mill surrounded by picturesque olive trees that inspired some of Van Gogh's famous paintings. Learn about the intricate process of making olive oil and taste the delicious varieties of this precious ingredient. After a short drive, you will be back at your home base hotel for a free evening. 

This morning we will head to the nearby city of Arles, famous for its many Roman monuments and where Van Gogh called home for 9 years and produced over 300 paintings! Thanks to our very own Van Gogh expert guide you will be able to follow in the painter's footsteps while discovering the beauty of the Provencal town. After a traditional lunch with a view of the Roman Arena we will stop by the Foundation Van Gogh where you will be able to see the current exhibit. 

For the 2nd part of the day we will be heading to an authentic ranch in the Camargue! Here we will learn about the traditions of the region and see the French cowboys practice herding the black bulls of the Camargue while riding the famous white horses. Afterwards, we will enjoy a fun French barbecue dinner on the Ranch with regional food before heading back to the hotel.

Today is a special day for our lavender farm patrons as we are going to visit a fellow lavender farm and oil distillery in the heart of the lavender producing region of Sault. During a 2 hour workshop the local farmer will tell us the history of lavender in the region, how to grow and harvest it, and then lead us into the fields to pick some. We will then take it to their distillery to make our own essential oil that you will keep as a souvenir! You will be able to take plenty of pictures during this morning lavender field experience.

After a morning in the purple fields, enjoy a nice homemade lunch at a private Bed & Breakfast nestled in the countryside before we take the road back to St Remy. On the way back we will stop at the incredible Synagogue of Carpentras for a guided tour. Built in 1367, Carpentras' Synagogue is one of the oldest synagogues in France which bears the hallmarks of a unique history specific to the Jews of this region. Around 6 pm we will head back to your boutique hotel for your free evening. 

This morning you will have the option to go to the Eygalières Market located just 15 minutes away from your hotel. You will have time to explore the picturesque village and enjoy some shopping. We will then return to St Remy late morning for a your free lunch. You can either enjoy the snacks that you bought at the market or go to lunch to one of the nearby restaurants. Early afternoon we will all regroup and set off to the enchanting village of Lourmarin where we'll have time to stroll around and even sit at a cafe and relax. After some free time to explore the village at your leisure, we will head to a local truffle farm where the owner will teach us all you need to know about their farm and passion: growing truffles. Finish this incredible encounter with a demonstration of truffle hunting with their dog! Champagne, truffle hors d'oeuvre and food will be provided at the farm for dinner. A highlight of the tour!

Today you will discover a masterpiece of ancient architecture: the Pont du Gard, a massive 2,000 year old Roman aqueduct. It is a milestone of human engineering and one of the greatest monuments of France that stands as a reminder of the tremendous power of the Roman Empire. 

Afterwards, we will go to the nearby town of Uzès to enjoy the local market, one of the biggest of the region, with 200 stands! Enjoy some free time there to shop and buy local treats for lunch. 

Around 2:30 pm we will be back at your hotel. You can decide to join the optional 2 hour Lavender Fuseau workshop (traditional weaving of a lavender wand) with local artisan Elsa Lenthal or take the rest of the afternoon free to explore the surroundings of St Remy followed by your last free evening in town. This could be a great opportunity to visit the the Roman archeological site of Glanum or go for a walk in the local mountains of the Alpilles. 

There is no better way to meet the locals than going to a local festival! So today we will head to Ferrassières for the annual lavender festival celebrating the beginning of the harvest. Music, local market, demonstrations are part of the festivities. After seeing how the locals celebrate and enjoying some tasty street food.

You will also be able to see the stunning lavender fields of Aurel as we make our way to the festival.

After a break at your hotel, join us for our farewell evening as we put on our aprons and head to a stunning private villa just steps away from our hotel for a fun-filled cooking class dinner! With the guidance of a local chef, Jane, we'll prepare and savor some mouth-watering traditional Provençale delicacies, and raise a toast to an unforgettable trip to St Remy-de-Provence.
